Temporary Payroll Specialist - Year-End Adjustments

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Temporary Payroll Specialist to assist with critical year-end payroll adjustments. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy of payroll data, implementing open enrollment changes, and preparing payroll records for tax reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong payroll background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Year-End Payroll Adjustments
  • Review and implement payroll changes resulting from open enrollment, including updates to deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure all payroll adjustments are accurate and compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Perform detailed checks on final payroll runs to ensure accurate year-to-date totals for employee W-2s.
• Compliance and Reporting
  • Verify that all payroll deductions and contributions (e.g., pre-tax, post-tax, retirement, and cafeteria plans) are correctly recorded in the payroll system.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data to ensure compliance with company policies and tax laws.
  • Assist in preparing payroll reports and documentation required for audits or tax filings.

  • Prepare and review 401k federal audit Form 5500 for testing, compliance.
• Employee Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding year-end payroll adjustments, deductions, and W-2 accuracy.
  • Collaborate with HR and benefits teams to address any issues related to payroll changes or benefits elections.
• Process Improvement
  • Evaluate existing payroll processes and suggest improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with documenting payroll procedures for compliance and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and payroll system management.
• Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and payroll compliance requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
