Summary

This position is located at US Mint,Manufacturing Directorate - Philadelphia - Production Maintenance Division. As a Production Maintenance Supervisor, you will have supervisory responsibility for work involving the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of inoperable/malfunctioned major production machinery and related equipment (includes duct work, sheet metal fabrication, welding, structural steel fabrication, etc.).

Duties

As a Production Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
  • Serve as a division supervisor and direct, the activities of employees engaged in machine/equipment maintenance and repair work.
  • In conjunction with the General Foreman, determine staffing requirements to meet anticipated workloads and deadlines;
  • Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules,
  • Assign work based on priorities, skills and coordinate work to insure continuous flow of operations;
  • Expedite, check and review completed work
  • Provide information to plan and develop annual budget by determining manpower requirements, material/equipment, and supply usage.
Requirements

  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.

  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.

Incumbent frequently works with objects weighing up to 60 pounds and on an occasional basis in excess of 100 pounds however, moving equipment will be available. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, stoop, stand, kneel, bend, carrying of parts, supplies, coins, blanks, trays, packages, tools, etc. Work requires dexterity, mental alertness, agility, and coordination of movement in order to operate the equipment properly and to prevent errors. Must be able to work in cramped quarters/positions for sustained periods of time and must have sufficient eyesight to do close work and endurance, hand/eye coordination is required to keep pace with the operation of machines and controls. Operates a forklift. Work requires sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods of time.
